Poznań University of Technology to launch the National Center for Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity

The National Center for Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity will be established at the Poznań University of Technology. The aim of Center will be to develop the potential of the Polish academic community and other public institutions in artificial intelligence (AI) and Cyber Security. The concept of the National Center was presented during the meeting with the Minister of Education and Science, Przemysław Czarnek, by Prof. Eng. Teofil Jesionowski, rector of the Poznań University of Technology.

The main benefits that would result from the launch of the center include developing a unique AI and Cyber Security infrastructure and related areas, with Poland would as the leader of Central and Eastern Europe, having a possibility of influencing entire Europe, in particular, the Three Seas region, the Balkans and other regions. It was also emphasized that the creation of such a facility is an opportunity to increase the competitiveness of Polish science internationally and to popularize and develop artificial intelligence in solving issues in medicine, security, engineering, economic analytics, industry, trade, services.

According to the Ministry of Science, the meeting also discussed the issue of increasing the cybersecurity of the state, in particular in data security (transmission, processing and storage of data), security of e-identity and service applications for the public. The possibilities of using artificial intelligence in metrology were also discussed. The activities of the Center would complement the activities of the Polish Metrological Union in this regard.
