Niepodległa Congress

The Niepodległa Congress summarising the six-year celebration of the 100th anniversary of Poland’s regaining independence and rebuilding statehood is held at the Legia Warsaw Conference Centre from 11-12 January 2023.

According to the National Centre for Culture, the Niepodległa Congress is an opportunity to exchange experiences resulting from the implementation of projects under the “Niepodległa” Multi-Annual Programme and to draw conclusions for the future, as well as to discuss the needs and ideas for a modern and socially responsive cultural and educational offer for the population of Poland. It will also allow for the confrontation of different visions and proposals for the promotion of Poland and Polish culture abroad.

The congress events will be attended by people responsible for creating cultural policy, as well as specialists and practitioners involved in the day-to-day implementation of projects and events involving Poles in joint celebrations. The inaugural speeches will be given by Professor Piotr Gliński, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Culture and National Heritage, and Dr Jarosław Sellin, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, Government Plenipotentiary for the Celebration of the Centenary of Poland’s Independence.

The event will include three plenary sessions and fourteen panel discussions under four thematic tracks: Heritage and its role in building historical memory; Modern education for participation in culture; Inter-institutional and intersectoral cooperation for culture and heritage; Building and promoting Poland’s image abroad.

Among the participants in the debates, there will be people responsible for creating cultural policy, as well as specialists and practitioners dealing on a daily basis with the implementation of projects and events involving Poles in joint celebrations. Representatives of authorities, cultural institutions, non-governmental organisations, scholars, patrons of culture and the media are invited to take part in the discussions.
