by DignityNews.eu
The Ministry of Education and Science has prepared recommendations and guidelines for pupils, students and scientists – refugees from Ukraine.” Every student fleeing the war will receive help in Poland will receive it”, promised Minister Czarnek.

Pupils from Ukraine have the right to continue their education in Polish schools. Children and adolescents aged 7-18 can benefit from education and care under the same conditions as Polish students. It is enough for the parents to report to the facility and fill in the relevant documents. If a school will not have a place for a Ukrainian student, the commune will send him or her to another educational institution in its area.

For students who do not speak Polish to the extent that they can benefit from learning, the school principals will be able to organize additional Polish language classes. They can also launch a preparatory section within the school where teaching is tailored to the students’ abilities and needs. The students may also use the help of a Ukrainian speaking person employed as a teacher’s assistant, as well as take advantage of additional compensatory classes.

The Ministry has prepared information for teachers and educators in psychological and pedagogical assistance. It is a set of guidelines for supporting Polish students, Ukrainians currently studying in Poland, as well as students who will come to Poland as a result of military operations carried out beyond the eastern border.

The Minister of Education and Science sent a letter to the university rectors to let Ukrainian students continue their studies at Polish universities. The ministry has also developed guidelines on how to apply step by step to a university in Poland and what documents should be submitted.

Due to the situation in Ukraine, school principals in the border counties of: Bieszczadzki, Chełmski, Hrubieszowski, Jarosławski, Lubaczowski, Przemyśl, Tomaszów and Włodawa, and poviat cities: Chełm and Przemyśl may suspend full-time classes in schools and institutions educational.
