The Poznań University of Technology hosted the Plenary Meeting of the Conference of Rectors of Polish Universities of Technology (CRPUT). It was attended by the Minister of Education and Science, Przemysław Czarnek, who provided an additional PLN 6 million for the construction of the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security for the Poznan University of Technology.

During the meeting, the Minister and representatives of technical universities discussed the scope of cooperation between the Ministry of Education and Science and the Rectors of Polish Technical Universities. The conference also focused on the role of the education of engineers on the labour market and their role in the development of the Polish economy.

“There is an emerging demand for new professions. We need to launch new faculties in technical universities, such as nuclear engineers. A lot of money will be spent on this. Technical universities will respond to the needs of companies that will need such professionals”, said Minister Czarnek.

The Ministry of Education and Science stated that in accordance with the ‘Law on Higher Education and Science’, universities are strengthening their cooperation with the socio-economic environment. This manifests itself mainly through profiling education according to the needs of the labour market and a larger emphasis on teaching practical skills that are currently in demand. This is done through increased involvement of business practitioners and entrepreneurs in the learning process.

KRPUT as the autonomous entity was established in 1989 and functioned under the name Autonomous Conference of Rectors of Universities of Technology. It has had its present name since 1996 and is composed of 22 rectors of technical HEIs and 8 associated HEIs operating in Poland. The aim of KRUPT is to strengthen cooperation between technical universities.
