Starting Monday, January 29, during the “Week of Artificial Intelligence” organized as part of the European City of Science Katowice 2024, visitors can take part in workshops, lectures and panel discussions that will explain how artificial intelligence is shaping our world.

Thematic weeks on relevant social issues are part of the ongoing celebration of the European City of Science Katowice 2024. The curator of the “Artificial Intelligence Week” is Dr Jan Kozak, Prof. of the EU, head of the Department of Machine Learning at the University of Economics (EU) in Katowice.

“Thanks to algorithms, artificial intelligence can analyze data, recognize patterns, make decisions and even communicate in a way that is similar to our own. It’s a fascinating field of research that opens the door to countless possibilities. Join us to discover how artificial intelligence is shaping our world”, encourage the event’s organizers.

The “Artificial Intelligence Week” program includes lectures, workshops and panel discussions on such topics as AI in the service of communication for the deaf, in mobile applications and even in cat classification. In addition, we will also learn whether artificial intelligence will replace humans.

There will also be an AI knowledge contest and computer activities for those interested, and a hands-on guide to ChatGPT will be available to everyone.

The event will conclude on February 4 with a panel discussion titled “Women in the Development of Artificial Intelligence,” during which the speakers will be exclusively female researchers: Prof. Celina M. Olszak, rector of the EU in Katowice, Prof. Halina Kwaśnicka from the Wrocław University of Technology, Dr Adrianna Kozierkiewicz from the Wrocław University of Science and Technology, Dr Anna Manowska from the Silesian University of Technology and Dr Barbara Probierz from the EU in Katowice.
