The Warsaw School of Economics (SGH) in Warsaw and the IE University in Spain have been accepted into the CIVICA European University consortium, which includes prestigious European universities in social sciences. The European University of CIVICA has presented a vision for 2030 with creating a university of the future as one of its vital elements.
CIVICA’s vision for 2030 will deepen and extend activities in key areas such as education, research, commitment to society, innovation and lifelong learning, development of a diverse and inclusive CIVICA community, further global reach, establishing a leading role for CIVICA in social sciences and creating a framework for permanent institutional cooperation.
From autumn 2022 to autumn 2026, thousands of students and young scientists will gain new opportunities for international mobility, take the new educational offer and pan-European opportunities for civic involvement.
Kate Vivian, Acting Vice-Rector for International Affairs at the University Sciences Po Paris and Coordinator of the CIVICA Alliance said that she was delighted to welcome IE University and SGH to the alliance as both institutions had extensive international experience and contributed to pedagogical innovation and commitment to society.
The rector of the Warsaw School of Economics, Prof. Piotr Wachowiak said that cooperation with universities affiliated with CIVICA would open up new perspectives for Polish scientists, employees, students and doctoral students. “In today’s turbulent world, our collaboration is more important than ever. It strengthens us in our striving to preserve and develop European values of peace, freedom and solidarity”, added Prof. Wachowiak.
In addition to SGH and the IE University, the CIVICA alliance currently includes Bocconi University in Italy, Central European University in Austria, European University Institute (internationally based in Florence), Herti School in Germany, National University of Political Studies and Public Administration in Romania, Institute Sciences Po of France, Stockholm School of Economics and London School of Economics and Political Science.
