US Armed Forces to receive military warehouses in Powidz

by Dignity News
The construction of a complex of 56 warfare warehouses intended for the brigade combat group of the US Armed Forces has begun in Powidz, Greater Poland. The investment will be completed in April 2024.

Participated in the inauguration of the construction, Minister of National Defense Mariusz Błaszczak stated that the base in Powidz, including warfare warehouses (construction has been inaugurated) and the long-term equipment storage and maintenance complex (LTESM-C), which is being built nearby, will be a key security infrastructure in this part of Europe. The head of the Ministry of National Defense emphasizes that both constructions are tangible and clear examples of Polish-American partnership.

This investment is co-financed by Poland, the North Atlantic Alliance and the United States. “The assumption of this investment, as well as the previous one, is to create conditions that will allow allied forces, especially the US forces, to be equipped with combat equipment in a very short time to be able to support the Polish Army in a real crisis situation”, said Minister Błaszczak.

The American side is implementing a number of projects on Polish territory to expand the potential of the Allied Strengthening Forces. In Powidz, they are a complex of equipment warehouses and their maintenance (Long Term Equipment Storage and Maintenance Complex – LTESM-C) and ammunition warehouses (MSA).

All these actions are part of the Allied Readiness Action Plan package and were approved at the NATO Summit in Wales in 2014. The NATO Military Committee considered it necessary to ensure that the Alliance could respond to the challenges related to the increased risk of a conflict on NATO’s eastern flank.
