The unemployment rate in December was 5.4%. and remained unchanged compared to the previous month, informed the Ministry of Family and Social Policy. At the end of 2021, there were 895.7 thousand unemployed people in the registers of labor offices. The unemployment rate at the end of 2021 ranged from 3.0 percent in the Wielkopolskie voivodship to 8.6 percent in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship.

The ministry emphasized that for the first time since 1990, the number of registered unemployed at the end of December was lower than in November. In the unemployment registers in December there were by 150.8 thousand (i.e. by 14.4%) less unemployed people than a year ago. Compared to the end of November, the number of unemployed in December decreased by 3.1 thousand. people, i.e. by 0.3 percent.

– Comparing the unemployment rate at the end of 2021 to the situation before the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of unemployed registered in employment offices decreased by 24.2 thousand persons, i.e. by 2.6%, and the registered unemployment rate was lower by 0.1 percent. In February 2020, it was 5.5 percent. – says the minister of family and social policy, Marlena Maląg.

According to preliminary data, in December 2021, employers reported almost 96,000 vacancies to labor offices and job activation places. It is about 17.6 thousand. (15.5 percent) less than in November 2021, but by 14.7 thousand. (18.1%) more than in December 2020.
