Ryszard Terlecki, Deputy Speaker of the Sejm emphasized very strongly and clearly that there is no need for peace at any price and that any aggression, pressure or attempts to destabilize Ukraine have to be opposed firmly.
“Unfortunately, Western Europe does not understand the situation, does not understand that Europe’s security depends on the security and stability of Ukraine. It was so, in cases of Crimea and Donbas conflicts, and it is happening now. Presumably, that Western attitude has changed a bit and the Western leaders start to understand the gravity of the situation. I think that, paradoxically, this crisis has strengthened Ukraine, because the Ukrainians have again experienced the Russian threat and are ready to defend themselves, fight, and secondly, Europe, the European Union, and NATO are aware of the scale of the threat from Russia, said Ryszard Terlecki on Wednesday, February 16, as a head of Polish parliamentarians’ delegation visiting the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in Kyiv.
Polish deputies took part in the session of the Verkhovna Rada. Then, the Deputy Speaker spoke with the chairman of the Rada, Ruslan Stefanczuk, and the vice-chairman, Olena Kondratiuk. The main purpose of the visit of the Polish delegation was to show support and solidarity with the Ukrainian people.
We cannot imagine the security of Europe without the security of Ukraine. We cannot imagine the future of the European Union and NATO without Ukraine, said Deputy Marshal Terlecki in Kyiv, which was enthusiastically received by Ukrainian parliamentarians.
After the meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, its chairman Ruslan Stefanczuk, addressed the Deputy Speaker of the Polish Sejm, saying: “I would like to assure you that Ukraine’s attitude towards both the Polish parliament and the Polish nation is as sincere, good and favourable as the one you felt today in the Verkhovna Rada hearing that storm of applause”.
