Tenth charging station for electric cars launched at railway stations in Poland

by DignityNews.eu

Polskie Koleje Państwowe S.A. (Polish State Railways) is continuing its efforts to develop electromobility and multimodal travel under the PKP Mobility brand. The company has launched another electric car charging station at the Warszawa Centralna railway station. A total of 10 such points are in operation at major railway stations across Poland.

PKP Mobility is an umbrella brand for services that complement the travel process at many stages, not only during the train journey itself. As part of this brand, PKP S.A. has piloted electromobility and multimodal travel services based on infrastructure and electric vehicles. Since 2018, the company has provided electric car users with charging stations at selected railway stations, and the number of available locations is growing.

“We are constantly striving to expand our service offering. This assumes that, in order to remain competitive, the railways must look for new ways to reach customers, in line with modern trends. Therefore, apart from the core business of real estate and ownership supervision in the PKP Group, Polskie Koleje Państwowe S.A. is also implementing projects aimed at providing services that provide added value to users of railway stations and facilitate door-to-door travel”, says Dr Rafał Zgorzelski, member of the Management Board of PKP S.A.

In addition to Warsaw Central Station, PKP S.A.’s electric vehicle charging stations are located at nine other major railway stations: Opole Główne, Warszawa Wschodnia, Gdynia Główna, Katowice Ligota, Wrocław Główny, Bydgoszcz Główna and at the stations in Częstochowa, Katowice and Gliwice.

The charging service at PKP Mobility stations costs only 1.25 PLN/kWh, which makes it the cheapest among solutions offered on the market.
