State Higher Vocational Schools to receive additional PLN 136 million for the development

by Dignity News
“Last week, I signed a document allocating, in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance, an additional PLN 136 million for the development of State Higher Vocational Schools and technical universities in former voivodship cities,” said Minister of Education and Science Przemysław Czarnek, during his visit to the State Higher Vocational School (PWSZ) in Nowy Sącz.

The head of the Ministry of Education and Science also referred to the development of cooperation between science and business, pointing out that this is a response to the needs of the labor market in a given region. “This is the essence and goals of technical universities”, added Czarnek.

In his speech, Minister Czarnek drew attention to the staff shortages in medical professions and encouraged the opening of new medical faculties.

“I am looking forward to applications for the creation of faculties that are necessary for former voivodship cities. Please submit applications for starting medical faculties that we all need very much as Poland misses 50 thousand doctors. It is not true that emigration is the reason for their limited number. They do not need to leave, because they earn excellent salaries in Poland. There are simply too few places for medical studies. They should be created, also in Nowy Sącz”, appealed Przemysław Czarnek.

During the opening ceremony of the new building of the University of Applied Sciences in Nowy Sącz, the minister confirmed that the higher school in Nowy Sącz will become the Academy of Applied Sciences in October this year.

“Nowy Sącz needs an Academy. Students who study here under very good conditions deserve to be part of the Academy. In our act, we proposed that higher schools could become academies if appropriate conditions are met. This is followed by new powers in teacher education”, emphasized Przemysław Czarnek.
