Railway infrastructure companies from Poland and Lithuania tighten their cooperation

PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe (PKP PLK) SA strengthens cooperation with AB LTG Infra – the Lithuanian railway infrastructure company. Actions to improve rail communication between Poland and Lithuania concern the exchange of experiences and information on the modernization of Rail Baltica as well as cooperation in the development of cross-border connections.

Representatives of PKP PLK SA and the Lithuanian railway infrastructure manager, AB LTG Infra, defined areas for further cooperation and exchange of experiences to improve the quality of rail traffic on cross-border sections. During the meeting of the Polish-Lithuanian Infrastructure Group, the companies talked also about strengthening cooperation in providing and maintaining railway lines and the possibility of increasing rail transport between Poland and Lithuania.

Representatives of railway infrastructure managers also discussed experiences in the implementation of investment projects, especially in the international Rail Baltica project. Part of the meeting was a technical visit to the construction site of the Białystok station and the railway bridge over the Narew River. Representatives of PKP PLK and AB LTG Infra agreed to continue cooperation in exchange for experiences and good practices.

The Polish-Lithuanian Infrastructure Group was established in 2021. The group works together to improve rail communication. The activities concern exchange of experiences and information in the modernization of Rail Baltica, cooperation in the development of cross-border connections – including the implementation of technical and operational solutions as well as the introduction of the European Rail Traffic Management System. The partners will also further strengthen cooperation in the provision and maintenance of railway lines.
