Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has announced that on the first of September, the Polish government will present a report regarding Poland’s losses incurred as a result of World War II. “It will depend on our political decision in what period after that date we will present the next steps”, said the head of the Polish government.

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki was asked at a press conference whether, immediately after the presentation of the report regarding war reparations from Germany, Poland would start the procedure for obtaining the amount contained in the report. According to earlier announcements, the report on Poland’s losses from World War II and the amount of compensation for Poland from Germany will be published on 1 September.

“On 1 September, we will indeed present a report on which a team of eminent professors, from various fields, including demographers, economists, historians, economic historians, statisticians, have been working for several years. “We will present the great extent of material and property losses that Poles suffered. It will depend on our political decision in what period after that date we will also present the next steps concerning this”, the head of government.

The Prime Minister added that he had read the report several times.

“It is indeed striking. It shows what should have been shown a long time ago and what everyone should realise”, pointed out Mateusz Morawiecki.

The reparations report was prepared by the Parliamentary Team for Estimating the Amount of Compensation Due to Poland from Germany for Damage Caused during World War II, which functioned in the previous parliamentary term – since September 2017. The team, headed by Law and Justice MP Arkadiusz Mularczyk, was preparing a report on Poland’s losses incurred as a result of World War II and the amount of compensation owed to Poland by Germany.
