Prime Minister Morawiecki in Davos: The situation in Ukraine to set the course of events for the next decades

by Dignity News
“The current situation in Ukraine will set the course of events not only for years but also for the coming decades”, said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki during the official opening of the Polish House in Davos, where the annual World Economic Forum takes place.

“Today it is worth discussing this issue with the full awareness that we are fighting for peace beyond our eastern border. Peace in Ukraine. But peace can only reign when Russia and its bestial, barbaric intentions that are taking place in Ukraine will be defeated”, said the head of the Polish government.

According to Prime Minister Morawiecki, in order for Ukraine to remain free and safe, it is necessary to defeat Russia “through our actions, also through crushing sanctions packages”.

Jacek Sasin, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State Assets assessed that the entire first day of the Forum was dominated by “the issue of the reconstruction of Ukraine and the Polish role in this reconstruction”.

“The talks also focused on the consequences of this war, the embargo on Russian resources and energy security”, said the Deputy Prime Minister. At the same time, Jacek Sasin noted that “Europe, unlike Poland, is not ready today to obtain gas from sources other than Russia”. Gas cannot be an intermediate fuel for long. This is already the dominant voice in the European Union”, added the Deputy Prime Minister. In his opinion, such a position means that we will operate longer with “energy based on coal”.

The Polish House, located in the heart of the Swiss Davos, is a joint venture of Polish banks, companies and institutions including Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego, Narodowy Bank Polski, Polish Development Fund, Stock Exchange, Bank Pekao, KGHM, Polski Koncern Naftowy Orlen, Polskie Górnictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo, PKO Bank Polski and the General Insurance Institution.
