In the Great People’s Palace in Beijing, Polish President Andrzej Duda met with Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China, on Sunday, February 6, 2022. The leaders of both countries discussed issues of trade, investments, transport and logistics.
Both leaders met during President Duda’s visit to China, where he took part in the opening of the Olympic Games.
The Chinese government agency Xinhua announced after the meeting that the Chinese leader believes that Poland will provide “a fair, honest and non-discriminatory business environment for Chinese companies.”
Xi Jinping also said that China intends to take an active part in the construction of the Polish logistics hub and help Poland to become a key node in the China-Europe supply chain. China will import more Polish agri-food products and high-quality goods, and encourage more Chinese companies to invest in Poland.
In the opinion of the presidential minister Andrzej Dera, the visit of the Polish president to China has a double dimension. On the one hand, the Chinese economy is one of the largest economies, everyone meets with Chinese officials to deal with economic interests, but on the other hand, this visit takes place in a certain international context.
Minister Dera said that Andrzej Duda informed Xi Jinping about the situation around Ukraine from the perspective of European countries, countries belonging to NATO, because the Chinese president probably receives information from the other side. China is a superpower and it would be good if President Xi Jinping knew what was going on.
