President Andrzej Duda finds the Cabinet Council meeting very substantive

A meeting of the Cabinet Council was held at the Presidential Palace on Tuesday. The Council is convened by the President to discuss matters of particular importance to the interests of Poland. It is made up of members of the government, debating under the guidance of the President. The Council is not in a position to make legally binding decisions.

President Andrzej Duda started the Cabinet Council by discussing the Central Transport Port. However, Prime Minister Donald Tusk changed the subject and announced that the President would receive documents related to the Pegasus affair. These are supposed to prove the use of the software also for illegal surveillance. The list of victims is said to be “very long”.

The President did not directly address these words. He stated that “if there are doubts, the investigative services should conduct investigations”. After the meeting, Andrzej Duda issued a statement to the media.

“As I announced more than a week ago, as it was also clearly expressed in the order, I issued on convening the Cabinet Council, we discussed the ongoing and planned major development investments in Poland, the energy transition, the construction of nuclear power plants in Poland, the nuclear programme, nuclear energy”, said the President.

Other topics of the meeting included the construction of the Central Communication Port, the modernisation of the Polish army and the development of Polish ports. According to the president, the meeting was very substantive.

“I am very satisfied with this meeting. I am also content because satisfaction was also expressed by Prime Minister Donald Tusk. He said that it was a very good meeting, because it was indeed a substantive discussion on specific measures that are being carried out and planned”, said Andrzej Duda. He emphasised that the discussed issues are and will continue to be the subject of his “constant political interest, because I really consider them to be absolutely fundamental”.
