Ultima Ratio, a platform that facilitates the conclusion, handling, and enforcement of contracts that companies sign, is working in collaboration with Microsoft to introduce AI to help with the drafting of justifications for judgments, checking the representation of parties and the correctness of the service of claims.

“The number of online arbitration cases at Ultima Ratio doubles every quarter. We therefore have a strong need to automate the work of our arbitrators. The less time an arbitrator spends on a case, the quicker they issue a verdict, the faster the case goes to a bailiff, and the lower is the cost of arbitration. As part of the Microsoft Founder’s Hub, we are now embarking on a project to use Azure OpenAI’s generative artificial intelligence to support Ultima Ratio arbitrators with the most tedious and time-consuming activities”, said platform founder Robert Szczepanek.

The most time-consuming activities are preparing drafts of justifications for judgments and checking the representation of parties and the correctness of service of claims. 

“In the first stage, we want to reduce the time spent by arbitrators on such cases by 98 %. We also want to start building a cognitive search base for later, more advanced functionalities. AI should be operational later in Q3 of this year. Before that, of course, it will undergo thorough testing”, announced Szczepanek.

In the next stage, Ultima Ratio is planning to provide users with virtual legal assistants. Specially designed bots will help users understand what is required of them in cases they want to start and support them during arbitration. They will also answer legal questions and draft contracts, statements, letters, and other company documents.

Ultima Ratio is a platform that facilitates the conclusion, handling, and enforcement of contracts that companies sign. The Electronic Arbitration and Mediation Centre at the Association of Notaries of the Republic of Poland in Warsaw operates on this platform.
