Polish government to support the replacement of digital terrestrial television equipment

by DignityNews.eu

Poland will be one of the few European Union countries to support citizens in the exchange of equipment to the new standard of broadcasting digital terrestrial television. The act prepared by the government provides for a one-off subsidy for users of older receivers.

Soon, in Poland, as in other European Union countries, the method of broadcasting digital terrestrial television will be changed- from the current DVB-T / MPEG-4 system to the more effective DVB-T2 / HEVC. This will allow users to receive more TV programs free of charge and with even better picture quality.

Available until the end of 2022, this one-off financing up to PLN 100 may be used for the purchase of a set-top box compliant with the provisions of the ordinance on technological and operational requirements for digital receivers that allow correct reception of a TV signal in the new standard.
