Polish gas company to provide PLN 2 million to help refugees

Polish gas company Polskie Górnictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo (PGNiG) and the PGNiG Ignacy Łukasiewicz Foundation will provide PLN 2 million to help Ukrainian citizens. The money will be donated to the Polish Red Cross, Caritas and the SOS Children’s Villages Association.

Paweł Majewski, President of the Management Board of PGNiG emphasizes that together with the Ignacy Łukasiewicz PGNiG will provide PLN 2 million to help Ukrainian citizens. PGNiG, as a company that is one of the pillars of energy security has got helping people in need in its blood. “We have decided that one of the forms of our support will be to transfer funds to the organizations implementing a long-term aid strategy – says Majewski.

He noted that this is not the only form of support provided by PGNiG. Earlier, the company, together with the PGNiG Foundation, provided water and packed food to reception points in the Lubelskie Voivodeship. Now the support will be received by the public benefit organization.

“We chose organizations that have experience in providing emergency, medical and long-term assistance. We strive to ensure that our support is as comprehensive as possible and lasts as long as possible. We also work with local governments to ensure that our help will be received by people in need”- emphasizes the president of the PGNiG Ignacy Łukasiewicz Foundation”, Karolina Dłuska.

Other companies from the PGNiG Group are also committed to helping Ukrainian citizens. PGNiG TERMIKA Energetyka Przemyśl is operating on site. It reports the list of necessary items on an ongoing basis and in response to the reported demand, it has so far provided the most needed sleeping bags and camp beds.
