Piotr Müller, the government spokesman said that at the meeting of the European Council in Paris, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki will propose further sanctions for Russia, shutting down the SWIFT system for the two largest Russian banks and banning the import of raw materials from Russia.

According to unofficial information, the Polish prime minister will visit London on Tuesday and then fly to Oslo to meet with the Norwegian prime minister. It is a continuation of the activities of the Polish government regarding the diversification of energy supplies.

Mateusz Morawiecki intends to convince Europe to shut down gas, oil and coal supplies from Russia. The alternative can be gas from Norway through the Baltic Pipe, currently being under construction.

Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk, a deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs said that Poland is seeking to tighten sanctions against Russia at all diplomatic levels. He stressed that the existing restrictions are insufficient.

“Sanctions on SWIFT should be introduced without exceptions, and it also applies to energy sanctions. The prime minister expresses a clear position that Nord Stream 1 should be turned off”, added the deputy head of Polish diplomacy.

Prime Minister Morawiecki said that in order to stop the war, the transfers, billions of dollars that feed the Putin regime must be stopped. Everybody must be aware that when gas flows in one direction, money flows in the other. That money is allocated to finance the military operations.

In the deputy minister’s opinion, Western politicians should wake up, there should stop short-term political calculation.

“Fundamental, groundbreaking decisions are needed. The point is not to cease our pressure, the time of breakthrough decisions should not end, and politicians, especially Germans must be aware that in these special circumstances they should show determination”, said Deputy Minister Szynkowski vel Sęk.
