After goals from Robert Lewandowski and Piotr Zieliński, the Polish national football team beat Sweden 2-0 in the play-off match and booked their place at the finals of the Qatar 2022 world championship.
Both goals were scored by the Polish team in the second half of the match when they dominated the Swedish footballers at the Silesian Stadium in Chorzów.
In the 48th minute, Grzegorz Krychowiak was fouled in the Swedes’ penalty area and the Italian referee Daniele Orsato showed a penalty kick. Robert Lewandowski approached the ball. The captain of the Polish national team made the kick in his own style and scored with easiness.
In the 72nd minute, one of the Swedish players failed to control the pass and it was used by Piotr Zieliński, who took the ball and went one-on-one with the goalkeeper. The Polish midfielder, who plays for the Italian Napoli on a daily basis, directed the ball just inside the post with a certain shot and doubled the lead. By the end of the match, the result did not change.
The Polish team advanced to the fourth consecutive great football tournament. After EURO 2016 and 2020, as well as the 2018 World Cup in Russia, the time has come for the World Cup in Qatar.
32 teams will take part in the Qatar finals, which will take place from November 21 to December 18, 2022. The draw for the tournament of the 2022 World Cup will take place on Friday, April 1 in Doha at 18:00.
