The Ministry of Health informed that on Thursday, 57,659 new cases of coronavirus infection were recorded in Poland, 262 people died, and the number of people in quarantine exceeded one million. On Wednesday, over 900,000 people were in quarantine.

Due to the pandemic, pupils in grades 5-8 of primary schools and secondary school students will switch to distance learning. Return to full-time education in all types of schools will take place on February 28. Distance learning does not include pupils in grades 1-4 and preschoolers.

Deputy Minister of Education and Science Tomasz Rzymkowski said that the ministry is fully aware of the consequences of distance learning and therefore such learning is introduced only for four weeks, especially since half of this time is winter holidays.

Pursuant to the ordinance of the Minister of Education and Science, full-time classes in schools for pupils in grades 5-8 of primary schools and for secondary school students are suspended. In their place, distance learning with the use of remote methods and techniques is introduced.

The restriction also applies to organizations of continuing education and vocational training centers, art schools providing only artistic education and artistic institutions, as well as art schools also providing general education within primary school V-VIII grades or general secondary school curricula. In special schools, the principals will decide whether students in grades V-VIII have stationary or remote classes.
