On Thursday, March 10, the Prime Ministers of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki and Justin Trudeau met at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister. The main topics of the talks included the sanctions against Russia and the possibility of influencing a change in policy and the suspension of aggression by Putin. The heads of governments also discussed ways to become independent from Russian energy resources.

The head of the Polish government expressed gratitude facing the recent great challenges together, talking how to get rid of Russian oil and gas in the future and how to make the sanctions really effective for the security of Ukraine and this part of the world.

Poland and Canada strongly condemn the violations by the Russian Federation of international charter and agreements. Both countries are unanimous and stand for the freedom and sovereignty of Ukraine.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau emphasized the importance and strength of the cooperation of both countries. Poland is a strong partner of NATO, standing shoulder to shoulder with Canada. The security of the entire transatlantic community depends on close cooperation within NATO with the countries of North America”- stated Trudeau.

Mateusz Morawiecki admired the fighting spirit of Ukrainians and believed that together the countries would manage to maintain the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine. Citizens of Ukraine are in an extremely difficult situation, but they will not be left alone. Poland will support  their European aspirations and help rebuild their country.

Justin Trudeau said Canadians are “deeply moved” by how Poles help refugees from Ukraine. „Together we will stand against Vladimir Putin. We will continue to support Ukraine as long as it is needed. We are together”, Justin Trudeau assured.
