Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki participated in the first meeting of the new Covid-19 Council, which was held on Wednesday, February 9. “The consequences of a pandemic are largely related to medicine, but have a huge impact on education, the functioning of the economy, social issues and the psyche of children, adolescents and adults. Hence, we need the extension of the powers of the entire Covid-19 Council.” said Morawiecki.

The Prime Minister stated that Covid-19 had left a huge mark on the mental condition, especially in children and adolescents. “The coronavirus may disappear from the media in a few months, but it will not disappear from our objectives and from the horizontal strategy of Poland” – added Morawiecki.

The duties of the new Covid-19 Council will include: analyzing and assessing the health, social and economic situation in the country, in terms of counteracting and combating the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, preparing and presenting proposals for actions, and issuing opinions on draft legal acts and other government documents with a significant impact on the issues of preventing and combating the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Prime Minister was confident that the new Covid-19 Council would play a fundamental role in developing the best solutions for the functioning of the health service, as well as in social, economic, education and security policy issues.

On February 9, 46,872 Covid cases were recorded in Poland, including 5,177 recurrent infections and 310 deaths.
