Spokesman of the General Police Headquarters (KGP), Insp. Mariusz Ciarka informed that the “Headhunters” from Poznań arrested one of the most wanted criminals in Europe. The Hungarian citizen, Zoltan P., had been in hiding for eight years. Now, in Polish custody, he will be awaiting extradition to Hungary.

The man was arrested in Kępno by policemen from the Targeted Search Team of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Poznań, the so-called Head Hunters, in cooperation with the ENFAST police network in the Criminal Police Office of the National Police Headquarters.

“The detention was carried out on Wednesday evening. The combat group of the Independent Counter-Terrorist Unit in Poznań entered the apartment selected in Kępno. The police detained a man who had been living there in a rented apartment for some time. He used false personal data” – reported Insp. Ciarka.

A spokesman for KGP emphasized that Zoltan P. is one of the most wanted criminals in Hungary and Europe. The Hungarian has been in hiding for 8 years.

“He’s suspected of ordering the murder of his accomplice. He took part in an attack on a group of Chinese citizens, shooting with Kalashnikov rifle. He is also responsible for the theft of 1.5 million euros in cash. The message about the wanted was published on the Europe’s Most Wanted website”, the inspector noted.

Police officers from Poznań collected information about the wanted person with representatives of ENFAST. “As soon as his true identity was confirmed, they prepared an arrest. At the most convenient moment, police counter-terrorists stepped in and detained Zoltan P.”, added a spokesman for KGP.

“The fugitive will now be in Polish custody awaiting extradition to Hungary”, says Insp. Ciarka.
