The National Museum in Poznań informed on Facebook that its transport of materials necessary for securing works of art arrived at the National Art Gallery in Lviv on Friday, March 11th. The director of the National Museum in Poznań Tomasz Łęcki personally handed the transport over to the director Taras Voznyak.
The transport delivered to the gallery included mainly materials for the protection of museum objects, i.e. interlining, interleaving cardboard, filling materials, a roller for winding the canvas taken out of the frames and boxes for paintings. It also included food and medical supplies collected by employees of the National Museum in Poznań.
A video with statements by both directors is attached to the information.
The director of the Museum National in Poznań emphasized: “I would like to say to everyone at our National Museum in Poznań, but also to everyone who will see this report, that the Ukrainian nation is extremely mature, that the Ukrainian nation, perhaps composed of various traditions and shades, is extremely coherent and appreciates its homeland.
Tomasz Łęcki stressed that the materials were handed over “in a normal manner, without any heroism, without any threat. Absolutely Ukrainians are at home, they are in control of the situation” – he added.
The director of the National Gallery of Art in Lviv thanked him for “the kindness with which Poland is sharing these difficult days with them”. He stated that there are many works of art in the Lviv gallery that belong to the Ukrainian and Polish cultural traditions, which may need to be evacuated.
