Mucha: Independent and sovereign Ukraine is an element of the security of the Republic of Poland

Paweł Mucha, an advisor to President Andrzej Duda, said that the situation of tension on the Polish-Belarusian border related to the political crisis caused by the regime of Alexander Lukashenka and the threat related to the Russian intervention in Ukraine are two matters analyzed in terms of Poland’s security. He pointed out that Poland supports Ukraine wholeheartedly and independent and sovereign Ukraine is an element of the security of the Republic of Poland.

According to the presidential adviser, the situation in Eastern Europe is difficult. Mucha emphasizes that Poland with partners intends to define a unified position of the European Union and work out very decisive statements, actions and preparations expressing the message to the Kremlin: attacking Ukraine is not economically and politically viable for Russia, such act of aggression against Ukraine will meet with such severe sanctions and it is not justified from the point of view of Russia’s interests.

Mucha stressed that Polish diplomacy, President Andrzej Duda and the Polish government’s efforts are of great importance in this situation.

This Friday, the National Security Council convened by the president will discuss the situation in Eastern Europe. The Council consists of: the Marshal of the Sejm, the Marshal of the Senate, the prime minister, the head of the Ministry of National Defense, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the minister coordinator of secret services, heads of political parliamentary or deputy clubs, or the chairmen of these clubs, the head the chancellery of the president and the head of the National Security Bureau.
