Under the auspices of the Ministry of Infrastructure, an agreement for the construction and development of a Network of Autonomous Technology Testing Areas was signed. The main goals of the project include supporting the development of unmanned systems technology in Poland and stimulating scientific and research cooperation as well as business cooperation by making available specialized, previously unavailable test infrastructure.
The letter of intent in this matter was signed by representatives of the Ministry of Infrastructure, the Maritime University of Szczecin, the Poznań University of Technology, the Warsaw University of Technology, the Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center, the Civil Aviation Authority, the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency and the Polish Chamber of Unmanned Systems.
Entities with resources relevant to the testing of autonomous systems may apply for inclusion in the Network in order to cooperate by making available resources, exchanging knowledge and experiences, or the implementing of joint ventures and projects. Applications may be submitted to the plenipotentiary of the minister of infrastructure for unmanned aerial vehicles.
“The creation of the Autonomous Technology Testing Area Network will be another step towards accelerating research on the still-evolving market of autonomous machines. Poland, as a leader in drone technologies, needs modern solutions that will allow for the further development of this prospective branch of the aviation industry”, says the Ministry plenipotentiary for unmanned aerial vehicles, Dariusz Werschner.
The network is created for innovative business entities, construction and academic teams, whose projects could not be fully tested so far due to the unusual nature, specificity of movement or large dimensions. The Network will enable the testing of unmanned flying, travelling and floating machines.
