The Ministry of Culture and National Heritage has supported the appeal of the Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, Oleksandr Tkachenko, to impose sanctions on Russian culture and limit its international activity also in this dimension.

Minister Piotr Gliński spoke with Minister Tkaczenko and the Lithuanian Minister of Culture, Simonas Kairys. They signed a declaration to make all possible efforts to exclude the Russian Federation from international organizations, committees and programs.

The Ukrainian minister of culture and people of culture in Ukraine required to impose sanctions on Russian culture limiting its cultural presence in the international arena, similar to other political, economic, sports and other sanctions, due to the fact that the Russian Federation violates international agreements and social norms. “In this de facto totalitarian state, culture serves as a servant and serves as political propaganda”, wrote Ukrainians.

On behalf of Ukraine and partner countries that support humanism, peace and order in the world, the signatories of the appeal demanded the cancellation of all projects involving the Russian Federation and projects financed by Russia, banning the operation of Russian cultural centers in the partner countries with a withdrawal of citizens of the Russian Federation from supervisory boards and cultural alliances, resignation from sponsorship and organizational support of the above-mentioned persons.

Polish cultural institutions are resigning from presenting works by Russian authors, inviting artists from the Russian Federation and artists cooperating with that country. Russian performers will not be able to perform at the Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival; philharmonics and musical theaters change their programs.

The performances of “Boris Godunov” at the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera have been canceled, and applications from art academies from the Russian Federation will not be considered during the International Festival of Puppet Schools LALKANIELALKA in Białystok. Polish tenor Piotr Beczała informed on Facebook about the cancellation of performances in Moscow due to the aggression against Ukraine.
