Minister of National Defense established the Cyberspace Defense Army

The Minister of National Defense, Mariusz Błaszczak, established a new force – the Cyberspace Defense Forces. The head of the ministry informed about it during a conference at the Military University of Technology in Warsaw. He stressed that thanks to those new initiatives, Poland is more secure.

The minister recalled that in 2019 the ministry established the National Cyberspace Security Center, consolidating the services that dealt with this area. The creation of the Cyberspace Defense Forces is the finalization of the process of creating forces responsible for Poland’s cybersecurity.

The politician added that the date of the announcement of the establishment of the Cyberspace Defense Forces is not accidental. As he noted, it coincided with the day of “safe internet”. Błaszczak emphasized that he is aware that in the 21st century, cyber-attacks have become a new threat and such weapon is used by Poland’s neighbour.

The Minister of National Defense emphasized that for the efficient operation of the Cyberspace Defense Forces, military universities created special technical and IT studies. Education in this area will start from secondary schools.

Minister Błaszczak confirmed that Cyberspace Defense Forces is a regular army. Those forces will perform both defensive and offensive actions that ensure Poland’s safety.
