Minister of Family, Labor and Social Policy to allocate PLN 62 billion to social programs

The Minister of Family, Labor and Social Policy, Marlena Maląg, informed that in 2022 the expenditure on the government’s social programs will amount to PLN 62 billion. During her speech in the Sejm, the minister explained the assumptions of the programs “Family 500+”, “Good start”, “Toddler +” and the Family Care Capital.

“From April 1, 2016, Polish families received over PLN 176 billion, with 6.5 million children obtaining support”, said the head of the family ministry.

The minister presented in the Sejm current information on the implementation of the flagship programs of the United Right government. In her opinion, efficient management, including changes in the public finance system, made it possible to find money to finance many social programs. She added that the coronavirus pandemic has not changed it.

The minister said that only in 2022, the government will spend PLN 62 billion on programs “Family 500+”, “Good start”, “Toddler +” and nearly 112 billion for the whole social policy. “This is powerful support; it is an investment in the family. Since April 1, 2016, over 176 billion PLN has been transferred to Polish families with 6.5 million children obtaining this support “.

The head of the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Policy also mentioned the “Good Start” program, under which parents receive PLN 300 a year for a schoolkid starter kit. Marlena Maląg informed the public that in 2018-2021, PLN 5.3 billion was spent on this purpose for 4.4 million children. She added that the cost of the program is PLN 350 million.

Maląg commented that on January 1, the government program launched a new program- Family Care Capital. This is an additional PLN 12,000 for the second and subsequent children from 12 to 35 months of age, which parents will be able to spend as they wish.
