Almost 442,000 students started BA and MA studies at universities supervised by the Minister of Education and Science (MEiN) this academic year.
A total of almost 441,823 students were enrolled in the first year of BA and single master’s degree programmes at universities supervised by the Ministry of Education and Science. Almost 298,000 people started their studies at public universities, of which more than 72,000 were admitted to MA studies. More than 144,000 candidates were admitted to non-public HEIs, of which more than 32,000 were admitted to MA studies.
The most popular faculties according to the total number of applicants for full-time BA and full-time master’s programmes include management and quality sciences (72,519), technical informatics and telecommunications (67,268), economics and finance (55,664), linguistics (49,619), psychology (43,677).
When considering the number of applicants per place, the most highly-attended courses in the 2023/2024 academic year were social computing (30.4), Korean studies (30.1), green technologies (28.4), oriental studies-Korean studies (19.9), computer science and intelligent systems (18).
In the academic year 2023/2024, the most popular public university among candidates for full-time BA and single master’s degree programmes (per place) was the Gdańsk University of Technology. Almost 8 candidates (7.9) applied for one place at this university. Also, Poznan University of Technology (7.1) and Warsaw University of Technology (7) topped the list.
Taking into account the total number of candidates for full-time BA and single master’s degree programmes, the highest number of applications was recorded by: among universities – the University of Warsaw (50 198), among technical universities – the Warsaw University of Technology (38 091), among academies – the Stanisław Staszic Academy of Mining and Metallurgy in Kraków (30 415), among public vocational universities – the Tarnów Academy (1 864).
