Przemysław Czarnek, Minister of Education and Science, met in Rome with Patrizio Bianchi, Minister of Education of the Italian Republic. The main topic of the conversation was the situation of Ukrainian students in Poland. Minister Czarnek introduced Patrizio Bianchi to the most important solutions in including children from Ukraine in the Polish education system.
The education ministers of Poland and Italy discussed the functioning of Ukrainian students in the Polish education system. The head of the Polish Ministry of Education and Science (MEiN) spoke about the legal solutions prepared by the ministry. He emphasized that children from Ukraine can study in Poland in preparatory units or join class units, and the decisions in this regard are made by the school headmaster.
The minister of education and science also pointed out that many students from Ukraine benefit from remote education and continue to study in the Ukrainian education system. He emphasized that Polish schools support Ukrainian students in this form of learning; they provide classes and equipment for distance learning.
In their conversation, both ministers also referred to the letters of intent on cooperation and academic exchange signed between Polish and Italian universities. Agreements have been concluded between the Catholic University of Lublin, the University of Rome “La Sapienza” and the Medical Research Agency, as well as the Catholic University of Lublin and the Gemelli Polyclinic.
Earlier, the head of MEiN met with the chairman of the foreign affairs committee in the Senate of the Italian Republic, Stefania Craxi. The subject of the conversation was the situation of children from Ukraine in Poland and the learning opportunities offered by the solutions prepared by the ministry. The chairwoman expressed her gratitude for the humanitarian aid provided to refugees and for providing education in Polish schools for young people.
