Further increase of electric cars and charging stations in Poland

by Dignity News
According to the Electromobility Counter launched by the Polish Automotive Industry Association (PZPM) and the Polish Alternative Fuels Association (PSPA), a total of 62,135 passenger and commercial electric cars were registered in Poland after 11 months of 2022. During this time, their number increased by 23 thousand 869 units, i.e. by 39 % compared to 2021.

At the end of November this year, 59,000 187 electric passenger cars were present on Polish roads. Fully electric cars (BEV, battery electric vehicles) accounted for 29, 780 units, and plug-in hybrids (PHEV, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles) – 29, 407 units. The electric vans and trucks numbered 2,948 units.

“November 2022 was the first month in more than a year and a half in which the total number of all-electric passenger cars (BEVs) in Poland exceeded the number of plug-in hybrids (PHEVs). We assume that, provided the subsidies from the ‘My Electric’ programme continue, this trend will also continue in 2023, especially as there are far more model launches announced in the BEV segment than in the PHEV segment”, assesses PSPA managing director Maciej Mazur.

The authors of the study pointed out that the number of electric mopeds and motorbikes is also continuing to grow, which at the end of November consisted of 16,160 units. Also, the number of hybrid cars and vans increased to 461,881 units. Meanwhile, Poland’s fleet of electric buses increased to 803 units.

Charging infrastructure is also expanding. At the end of November 2022, there were 2,527 publicly available electric vehicle charging stations (4913 points) in Poland. 29 % of them were fast direct current (DC) charging stations and 71% – slow alternating current (AC) chargers with a capacity of 22 kW or less. In November, 33 new public charging stations (92 points) were launched.
