Eurostat: HICP inflation in Poland hits 10.2%

According to the Statistical Office of the European Union – Eurostat, HICP inflation in Poland amounted to 10.2% year-on-year in March against 8.1% year-on-year inflation a month earlier.

Eurostat measures consumer price inflation with the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP). “Harmonized” means that all EU countries calculate it according to the same method. As a result, data for different countries can be compared with each other.

Across the EU, inflation was 7.8% in March. Year–on–year compared to 6.2% a month earlier. HICP inflation in the euro area was 7.4%. year-on-year in March this year against 5.9% inflation year-on-year a month earlier.

The lowest annual rates were recorded in Malta (4.5%), France (5.2%) and Portugal (5.5%). The highest annual rates were recorded in Lithuania (15.6%), Estonia (14.8%) and the Czech Republic (11.9%). Compared with February, annual inflation fell in two Member States and increased in twenty-five.

According to the data of the Central Statistical Office, consumer inflation was 11% on an annual basis in March 2022
