The Centre for Digital Poland Projects and the Ministry of Digitalisation have signed an agreement to support the construction of the National Data Processing Centre (KCPD). The project is being carried out jointly with the Scientific and Academic Computer Network National Research Institute and the Central Informatics Centre.
The construction of the KCPD is one of the government administration’s largest investments in data processing centres. The budget for the entire investment totals almost PLN 830 million. The first stage of the project will consist of project preparation, selection of a design office, contract engineer and general contractor. As part of the work, design documentation will be created to enable the construction of three standardised and energy-efficient data processing centres.
The construction of the KCPD is a strategic investment that will significantly affect ensuring the continuity of operation of systems critical to the State, e.g. the operation of state registers and the government cloud, which are the basis for the provision of e-services necessary for the stable functioning of society and state administration in everyday life and in emergency situations.
“Public administration must ensure access to its services, guaranteeing maximum security and data integrity. We must be sure that we have continuity of public services, also in the situation of power cuts or attempts to disrupt the operation of the telecommunications infrastructure”, emphasises the Minister of Digitalisation, Krzysztof Gawkowski.
Recipients of the created infrastructure will therefore be government administration institutions, including organizations subordinate to and supervised by the minister responsible for digitisation, as well as local government units and their unions and local government legal entities created under separate acts, who are users of the infrastructure built under the implementation.
