The deputy health minister announced that 36,665 cases of coronavirus had been detected in the last 24 hours. This is a record since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in Poland. The last record was on April 1, 2021. when 35,251 new infections were confirmed.

According to forecasts, Poland will have even 100-150 thousand infections daily. According to experts, the statistics do not reflect the terrible pandemic situation.

Prof. Krzysztof J. Filipiak, a cardiologist, clinical pharmacologist, rector of the Medical University of Maria Skłodowskiej-Curie in Warsaw, co-editor of the first Polish textbook on COVID-19 warns that in Great Britain to capture 200-300 000 infections per day, more than 1 million tests were performed each day, but there is no such technical possibility in Poland. Due to it, Poles simply will not see this wave.

Two days ago, the Minister of Health, Adam Niedzielski, forecasted that Poland can expect the apogee of the fifth wave in a few weeks.

The key factor is to what extent these infections translate into hospitalization, i.e. how many of these confirmed cases will become severe disease. In Europe, it is observed that the number of hospitalizations is clearly lower. Nevertheless, it is said about the cases of Great Britain and France where the vaccination rate is higher.
