Coronavirus: Poland reports over 56,000 new infections, National Immunization Program to launch a new campaign

In his statement on Wednesday, the Ministry of Health informed about 56.051 new cases of coronavirus infection. 94 people died due to COVID-19, 224 people, due to the COVID-19 with other diseases.

In February, the Chancellery of the Prime Minister is starting a new version of the campaign “Choose wisely, get vaccinated”. This time it will focus on immunization of children and pregnant women and the effectiveness of the booster dose.

The Government Information Center (CIR) has announced the new National Immunization Program campaign. It was emphasized that vaccination against the coronavirus is the most effective weapon in the fight against the severe course of the disease and death, and the risk of death due to COVID-19 among unvaccinated people compared to those who are vaccinated is nearly 60 times higher.

From December 27, 2020, when vaccination against COVID-19 was available in Poland, 51,658,515 injections were performed. The third, supplemental dose of the vaccine was taken by 210,093 immunocompromised patients and a booster dose by 10,057,033 persons. The daily number of vaccinations is 86,568 injections. 21,747,458 people are fully vaccinated in Poland.

In total, 96,550,560 doses of the vaccine were delivered to Poland, of which 51,035,195 doses reached the vaccination centers, 743,048 doses were disposed and 17,989 vaccines brought adverse, mostly mild effects.
