Modernisation of the Polish army. Minister signs two important agreements

by Dignity News

Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz signed a contract for the purchase of the IBCS command system from the US. This is one of the most modern systems used by the US army. Within the Polish Army, it will allow the integration of the Wisła and Narew systems. Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Defence (MON) participated in the signing of a framework agreement for the delivery of Kleszcz armoured personnel carriers.

“Thanks to our lasting, permanent alliance with the United States, the Polish military is gaining an operational brain for air and missile defence systems. This is a big deal. Just as man cannot function without reconnaissance, analytical capabilities, so neither can missile defence”, said the head of the Ministry of Defence.

“We can see a very important milestone in our security and defence relations. Poland, congratulations”, said US Ambassador to Poland Mark Brzezinski. He explained that the command and control system purchased by Poland is the brainchild of the US modernisation strategy for air and missile defence.

The Armament Agency indicated that the contract between the Ministry of Defence and the US government has a net value of approximately $2.53 billion. It will be implemented between 2024 and 2031.

Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Defence attended the signing of a framework agreement with AMZ-KUTNO S.A. for the supply of Kleszcz light armoured reconnaissance transporters (LOTR) for the Polish Army. The framework agreement precedes the signing of executive contracts for the procurement and delivery of nearly 300 vehicles for the Army between 2025 and 2035.

The Kleszcz on a 4×4 wheeled platform will join the equipment of the reconnaissance subdivisions of the Land Forces for dynamic battlefield acquisition and continuous acquisition, as well as collection of information about the enemy and the environment, while ensuring an appropriate level of protection for the crew.
