Poland is ranked 34th out of 131 countries in the Network Readiness Index. This is a drop of one position compared to 2021. First place is occupied by the United States with a score of 80.3 points out of a possible 100, second place belongs to Singapore, which was assessed at 79.35 points. Third place is held by Sweden with a score of 78.91 points.

The two other European leaders are the Netherlands with a score of 78.82 points and Switzerland 78.45 points. Poland has accumulated 61.16 points in the ranking. This result is worse than 64.33 points in 2021. This means 19th place among EU countries.

According to the Polish Economic Institute (PIE), which analysed the ranking, out of 58 indicators, Poland ranks first in the world in 3: access to 3G or newer mobile networks, Internet access in schools and e-commerce legislation.

Such a good position is probably an effect of market and regulator activities (mobile networks), government programmes (Internet in schools) or regulations created in the EU (e-commerce).

The ranking, published in a similar format since 2002, currently consists of four pillars: technology, human capital, management, and impact. Each of these pillars is divided into 3 categories, which comprise a total of 58 indicators.

Poland’s position, compared to 2021, has declined in all four main pillars. It is currently ranked 44th out of 131 countries in the technology pillar. This represents a drop of as many as eight places compared to 2021. In the pillars human capital, governance and impact, the drops were smaller, by 1, 2 and 4 places respectively.

Poland was rated very highly in the trust category (measuring, among other things, cyber security), in which it ranks 16th, and in indicators measuring education, participation, and access to online bank accounts, in which Poland ranks 9th, 9th and 15th respectively.
