From the beginning of next year, Norway will become the leading supplier of natural gas to Poland. “During a meeting with Terje Aasland, Minister of Oil Industry and Energy, I pointed out that Norwegian gas can play an important role in maintaining energy stability in Central and Eastern Europe, as well as in Ukraine, wrote Anna Moskwa, Minister of Climate and Environmental Protection, on Twitter.

During her visit to Oslo, Minister Anna Moskwa noted that Poland appreciates the existing strategic partnership with Norway in enhancing energy security in Europe, including in oil and gas supply and production.

At the same time, she emphasised the importance of very good cooperation with Norway in the use of Norwegian Funds, which are an important tool for financing the energy transition in Poland, and in the scope of offshore wind energy.

“Norway is a stable and reliable partner in enhancing energy security not only for Poland but also for the wider Central European region. It can boost Poland’s energy transition and influence the reduction of emissions by European economies”, said the head of the Ministry of Climate and Environmental Protection.

In her opinion, the Baltic Pipe project is the best proof of the great importance of bilateral relations.

According to the Ministry of Climate and Environmental Protection after the meeting in Oslo, the delivery of the first volumes of Norwegian gas via Baltic Pipe to Poland will be feasible as originally planned, starting in October 2022.

“We have been preparing for many years to resign from importing Russian gas. At the same time, we fully support the idea of an embargo on Russian raw materials and an even quicker end to import them at the European Union level”, said Anna Moskwa.
