According to the Polish-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK Polska) in 2022, 72.1% of foreign companies operating in Poland positively assessed the Polish economy. More than half of the respondents believe that Poland should join the euro area, and 94.8% have a positive attitude toward Poland’s membership in the EU.
A business survey on the perception of Poland by foreign companies was conducted jointly by AHK Polska and the International Group of Chambers of Commerce. The respondents were asked about the factors influencing the attractiveness of doing business in Poland.
The first place was taken by Poland’s membership in the European Union – 62.3% of foreign entrepreneurs are very satisfied with it, and 32.5% are just satisfied. The second place is the qualifications of Polish employees – 22.2% of respondents are very satisfied with them, and 56.6% are just satisfied. The productivity and motivation of employees came in third place with 14.6% and 49.1% of respondents very satisfied and satisfied, respectively.
“The optimism that emanates from these answers draws our attention,” said Tomasz Salomon, a deputy director of the department at the Ministry of Development, Labor and Technology, during the conference devoted to the results of the survey.
Although 72.1% of representatives of foreign companies positively assessed the condition of the Polish economy, there was only a “slight increase” in the percentage of positive opinions y / y. At the same time, the condition of the economy in Poland in 2021 was assessed as “the worst since 2012”. In 2021, 31.3% of respondents described the condition of the Polish economy as “bad” and in 2022, only 27.8% answered the same way.
More than half of the surveyed companies forecast that investments will remain at the same level (52.4%) and will increase in over 1/3 (34.4%) cases. According to the survey, investments will decrease in 13.2% of the surveyed enterprises. More than half of the respondents are planning to keep the same number of employees as last year, and 41% stated that they intend to increase their number.
“Taking into account the very difficult situation related to the war, the uncertainty, and the disruptions of the supply chains, as a rule, companies are planning to hire or retain the existing staff. “This is a very valuable declaration”, said Solomon.
