Asked about the completion date of the Central Communication Port (CPK), Marcin Horała, deputy minister of infrastructure, funds and regional policy said that the system will operate from 2027, and its new elements will appear by 2034. Breaking the ground and first works are planned for the year 2023.
“The war in Ukraine has shown how much this project is needed. The aspect of military mobility on NATO’s eastern flank is becoming particularly important now”, said Deputy Minister Horała, emphasizing the importance of the infrastructure of the Central Communication Port in crisis situations.
“An aggressor who would plan an attack on Poland will have to take into account the fact that within literally a few hours it will be possible to deliver large volumes of troops or supplies to Poland”, he added.
In the opinion of the deputy head of the Ministry of Infrastructure, this investment will also create completely new connections between small and medium-sized Polish cities and metropolises.
Due to its complexity, the project was divided into stages. The main goal of the first stage is to complete the planning and preparatory works that will enable the construction of the CPK investment and associated investments to begin in 2023.
In accordance with the concept of building the Central Communication Port, the implementation of projects comprising the airport component is planned by the end of 2027. The investment projects comprising the railway component are to be implemented by the end of 2034.
Apart from the Solidarność Airport, CPK will also include railway investments: a junction in the immediate vicinity of the airport and connections within Poland, which will enable travel between Warsaw and the largest Polish cities in no more than 2.5 hours. The investment will create over 150 thousand new jobs. In the area of the CPK, the Airport City will be built, which will include trade fair and congress facilities, conference and office facilities.
