Przemysław Czarnek, the Minister of Education and Science stated that there are already over 130,000 students from Ukraine in the Polish education system. On Monday, during a visit to the Economic School Complex in Lublin with two preparatory departments for students from Ukraine, the minister said that 900 teachers and people related to education from Ukraine enrolled in the intensive Polish language courses run by the Education Development Center.

At a press briefing after visiting the Economic School Complex in Lublin, where there are two preparatory departments for students from Ukraine, the Minister of Education and Science stated “We have 130.000 children and youth from Ukraine in the Polish education system. We are pleased that an increasing percentage is concerning preparatory departments.

“These preparatory units here are showing that it is a great way to flexibly admit Ukrainians to Polish schools, also without too much stress for themselves”, noted Minister Czarnek.

“I would also like to say that we are very pleased with one more news. Last week, I commented that from Wednesday (March 23), quick registration for the basics of the Polish language courses organized by the Center for the Development of Education was started. They are starting today. Already 900 people signed up in just a few days”, emphasized Przemysław Czarnek.

The head of the Ministry of Education and Science announced that more groups will be organized. “This proves that Ukrainian teachers and scholar staff who came to Poland, want to learn Polish quickly in order to work in Polish schools, and we will definitely need this work”, said Minister Czarnek.

Last week, the Center for the Development of Education, subordinate to the Ministry of Education and Science, started enrolling Ukrainian teachers and scholar staff who want to work in Polish schools as teacher assistants, but do not speak Polish. The course is free. It includes 60 hours of Polish at the basic level (A1) and will take 6 weeks. Classes will be held online.
