Yesterday, on February 28, a record-breaking over 100,000 refugees entered Poland from Ukraine. Today until 7.00 am they were already 24.000. From February 24, Border Guard officers allowed over 377.400 refugees from Ukraine to pass the border crossings.
Michał Dworczyk, head of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister said that the Ukrainian border guard has simplified the procedures, women and children are practically let go without control, and the queues at the border have decreased.
It seems that the number of refugees will increase day by day. The head of the Prime Minister’s Chancellery noted that the number of open fronts, the involvement of forces and resources from the Russian Federation, the increasing brutality of the actions indicate that military operations will not come to an end quickly.
In Poland, medical services for refugees from Ukraine and rail journeys are free. The Polish state is doing everything to help Ukrainian citizens fleeing the war, said Dworczyk.
The Polish government has enabled refugees from Ukraine to vaccinate since yesterday. The only condition is to have a valid identity document.
Refugees already reach Polish cities in the interior of the country. Wrocław took care of young footballers from Kyiv.
Almost 300 Ukrainians stayed in Lublin on Monday. Mayor of Lublin, Krzysztof Żuk emphasizes that the city is ready to accept another group of refugees heading Lublin.
Several dozen Ukrainians and Poles also arrived in Płock, including refugees from Żytomierz (Zhytomyr), which is one of Płock’s 14 partner cities. According to Andrzej Nowakowski, the Mayor of Płock, the city is now prepared to accept a group of several hundred refugees from Ukraine.
