Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, Speaker of the Sejm Elżbieta Witek and representatives of Mercedes-Benz Group AG announced the establishment of the world’s first Mercedes vans factory in Poland, which will produce exclusively electric cars. The company announced that it will open a new plant in Jawor as an investment of €1.3 billion.
As Prime Minister Morawiecki stressed, the Polish government is creating the best possible environment for industry to invest, both from the tax and regulatory side. He pointed out that Poland combines education at universities and new industry schools with the needs of investors.
‘We no longer want to compete with other countries in the region today by offering lower labour costs’, said the head of government, adding that ‘what we care about now is high quality work, which means good education and high salaries’.
Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said that consumers are increasingly paying attention to product quality.
“The world-famous quality of the Mercedes brand meets the quality of work of Polish engineers, project managers and employees in Jawor”, the Prime Minister stressed. “This creates the best possible environment for investment”, he added.
Mercedes-Benz Group AG will invest EUR 1.3 billion in Jawor in Lower Silesia (the site of the Special Economic Zone “Invest Park” in Wałbrzych). More than 2,500 people will find employment there.
The company will produce large vans (closed model – vans) based on the VAN.EA- Van Electric Architecture. VAN.EA is the basis for all Mercedes-Benz eVans in the medium and large segment, which will be launched from 2025.
The project is expected to start in November 2023 and production in January 2026.
