Storms are hitting Poland as an effect of the Dudley Lowlands moving from Western Europe. Marek Kubiak, deputy director of the Government Center for Security (RCB) informed that last night, over 324,000 consumers were deprived of electricity supplies. Karol Kierzkowski, the press spokesman of the chief commander of the State Fire Service informed that firefighters received over 3,200 calls to remove the effects of strong winds: most in the Wielkopolski Region – 888, Łódzkie- 633, Mazowieckie- 515, Zachodniopomorskie 323, Lubuskie 300. 190 buildings were damaged.
In Wielkopolska, in the Dobrzyca commune, the wind broke the roofs of about 30 houses. In Lubuskie, near Międzyrzecz, a 70-year-old man died after the car he was driving was crushed by a large tree. It was also a dangerous situation in the Łódź Province. There, a strong wind broke off several dozen roofs and broken tree branches and overturned trucks blocked the roads. A construction crane collapsed down in Kraków. Four people are injured, including two of them seriously.

Until 9:30 a.m. Polish time the highest gusts of wind occurred in the coastal area, in the Sudetes and in Greater Poland. The gusts exceeding 110 km / h were recorded in Leszno (117.4 km / h) and Dziwnów (133.9 km / h) and on the peak Śnieżka (170.6 km / h).
The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management warns against high winds throughout Poland issuing the third (highest), second-and first-degree alerts. The RCB alert (SMS warning system against threats) was also announced for the whole country.
