From 2 to 24 July 2022, the 5th Festival of the Polish Royal Opera titled Polish Music will take place on the premises of the Royal Theater, the Palace on the Isle at the Łazienki Museum and the Royal Castle in Warsaw. The festival will include twelve artistic performances and concerts.
On July 2, the world premiere of Zygmunt Krauze’s work commissioned by the Polish Royal Opera – Night of the Ravens, directed by Waldemar Raźniak, will take place. The libretto for this one-act opera was prepared by Małgorzata Sikorska-Miszczuk based on Ballades and Romance and Dziady by Adam Mickiewicz. The second performance will take place on July 3. It is worth recalling that the famous drama by Mickiewicz, with music by Stanisław Moniuszko, opened the first season of the Polish Royal Opera.
Other performances prepared by the Polish Royal Opera in previous years will also return to the stage of the Royal Theater. The organizers are announcing the humorous “Happy Poverty” by Maciej Kamieński, “The Haunted Manor” and “Home Songbook” by Stanisław Moniuszko, as well as “Hiob” by Krzesimir Dębski. Also, the concert version of the first Polish opera, “Agatka, or the Lord’s Arrival” by Jan Dawid Holland will be performed.
There will also be events for lovers of chamber music including “Recital” by Szymon Mechliński and the concert “Baroque at Polish courts”. Lovers of 20th-century music will hear Olga Pasiecznik, who prepared a recital of “Songs” with pieces about children by Karol Szymanowski and Witold Lutosławski.
