The temporary exhibition ‘City of Gingerbread’ boosted the financial results of the Kolejkowo company in the last straight year. For the whole of 2023, the company’s revenue increased by 27 % to almost PLN 12 million and its profit on sales by 37 % to PLN 3.2 million. Later this year, the network of model railway exhibitions will expand with new locations and attractions.

“For the full year 2023. Kolejkowo generated PLN 11.97 million in sales revenue, up from PLN 9.4 million a year earlier. Net profit amounted to PLN 2.48 million and operating profit to PLN 3.23 million”, the company said in a press release.

“The specific nature of the business means that costs do not grow proportionally to revenue, hence profit grew faster than revenue. Regardless of the number of customers, the cost of service, space rental and media is at a similar level. Therefore, the higher the number of visitors, the higher the profitability calculated per customer,” comments Jakub Paczyński, CEO of Kolejkowo SA.

Currently, Kolejkowo consists of two exhibitions of miniatures, in Wrocław and Gliwice, which are visited by more than 340,000 visitors a year, as well as a newly built model railway centre in Jelenia Góra. The facility will open in March 2024. In addition to the production facilities, the model depot will be a ticketed educational and tourist attraction. Kolejkowo estimates that in the first years of operation, the facility in Jelenia Góra will receive around 70,000 customers per year.

“The facility will significantly accelerate the creation of new mock-ups and exhibitions. It will also generate revenue from the sale of admission tickets. We assume that by the end of 2024, it will be visited by 50,000 visitors and the revenue will amount to about PLN 2.5 million”, says Jakub Paczyński, CEO of Kolejkowo SA.

The plans for 2024 also include the opening of another location – in Warsaw. Work on the new location is already well advanced, mainly due to the new modelling plant, which speeds up the process of creating new exhibition elements. In 2025. Kolejkowo envisages the opening of another exhibition in Gdańsk, and in the future to carry out acquisitions of companies already on the market.
