Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki met with John Kerry – the US President’s Plenipotentiary for Climate Affairs. During the conversation, the politicians touched on energy security in Central and Eastern Europe and discussed further aid to Ukraine.
“I welcome this meeting because our transatlantic relationship is very important. I look forward to this conversation and to exchanging opinions because I know that we have many common interests,’ said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
John Kerry had the opportunity to use an electric public transport bus during his visit to Warsaw.
“I am grateful that I can now share Warsaw’s experience of the growing number of electric buses, which reduces the use of coal and fossil fuels. This is the future, the future of our whole world,’ Kerry stressed.
The US politician added that a coal-free economy also means jobs, for a whole range of specialists working on new batteries, and designs, among other solutions.
The US President’s Plenipotentiary also expressed gratitude for Poland’s attitude towards refugees from Ukraine.
“Thank you very much for this leadership that Poland has shown. I believe that your nation should be thanked for the great generosity and warmth shown to the refugees from Ukraine. You have opened your hearts and your souls to these people who are suffering so much”, he said.
Earlier, Kerry met with President Andrzej Duda at the Belvedere. The President’s Office said the conversation focused on cooperation on climate policy, energy security and the situation of Russian aggression against Ukraine.
